Method: buy price = raw × (1 + premium) × (1 + VAT). Sell price = raw × (1 − discount). Defaults are approximate: bullion at a 2% to 3% premium and zero VAT, jewelry with making charges of 5% to 15% and 15% VAT.

Why this matters

Every riyal paid above raw or deducted on sale must be recovered by a price rise before any profit. That is why bars suit saving better than jewelry.
